My name is Alisa Ali, I have a B.A. in General Arts with a Minor in English from Ottawa University. Shortly after university I graduated from the Female Mentor-ship Program, where I learned administrative skills. This lead to a career in administration.
As an administrative assistant, I felt as though I was dispensable to the companies I worked for. After putting in a tremendous amount of effort into being a medical assistant at Connect Hearing, I was let go when another employee came back to work. This was because the office was overstaffed. At that point in time I decided to go back to school and take Technical Writing.
In the past I have dreaded waking up to go to perform repetitive tasks. Some days the only thing that kept me going were my co-workers. Technical Writing brings back a sense of importance in my life.
I love to write. I use writing in my everyday life as a relaxation technique. The best careers are the careers where you are performing tasks that come naturally. If you love what you do you will never dread going to work.
